Peterson and Jellison Named to KCAC All-Conference
WICHITA, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2022 Volleyball All-Conference honorees and individual award winners, as voted on by the conference's volleyball head coaches. Ottawa University was the KCAC regular-season champion, with a perfect 12-0 conference record.
Sarah Lazar, a middle hitter for Friends University, was named the KCAC Volleyball Player of the Year. Lazar has been a force on the offensive end all season, tallying 455 kills in the regular season (4.14/set). Her total kills and kills/set led the KCAC, and she also led the conference in hitting percentage in the regular season (.368). Her hitting percentage ranked fourth in the NAIA at the end of the regular season. Lazar showed her prowess on defense this season as well, leading the Falcons in total blocks in the regular season (127 total; 50 solo, 77 assisted). Lazar averaged 1.15 blocks/set, which ranked second in the conference.
Setter of the Year honors went to Kaitlyn Haller of Ottawa, while Sophia Wicker of Southwestern College was named the conference's Defender of the Year. Rylee Serpan of Kansas Wesleyan University was named the KCAC Volleyball Freshman of the Year.
Adriana Skipper of Ottawa University was named the conference's Assistant Coach of the Year for the third season in a row. Tracie Gillette of Oklahoma Wesleyan University was named the KCAC Volleyball Coach of the Year by her peers.
