Slate Earns Women's Track KCAC Scholar Athlete Recognition

WICHITA, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) and Barnes & Noble College are pleased to announce that 88 women's outdoor track & field student-athletes have been named 2023 KCAC Scholar-Athletes. Barnes & Noble College is the official sponsor of KCAC Scholar-Athlete and Scholar Team awards, and is the official campus bookstore and course material provider of the KCAC.

 

York University leads the conference with 15 women's outdoor track & field student-athletes earning the Scholar-Athlete distinction. The University of Saint Mary is not far behind, with 13 honorees, while Southwestern College had 11. Tabor College and Friends University each had nine scholar-athletes, Ottawa University had eight, and McPherson College had seven. Kansas Wesleyan had five honorees, followed by Bethany College with four. Bethel College and Oklahoma Wesleyan University each had three honorees, and Sterling College rounds out the list with one scholar-athlete honoree. 

 

The All-KCAC Scholar-Athlete Academic Award recognizes excellence in the classroom by KCAC member student-athletes who:

  • are sophomores or above in academic standing at the beginning of the semester in which they compete.
  • carry a minimum 3.250 cumulative GPA at the beginning of the semester in which they compete.
  • student-athletes must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the KCAC institution to be eligible.
