Lady Warriors sweep Moundbuilders at home

STERLING, Kan. – Sterling College women's tennis continues to sweep the competition with their latest victim being the Southwestern College. The Lady Warriors defeated the Moundbuilders, 7-0, on Monday, April 13 with dominant performances across the board.

Sterling started with a sweep of the doubles matches with Hannah Giordanelli and Danna Arroyo defeating Natalie Blaufuss and Elie Rosennscar 6-4 in the No. 1 doubles match. Greta Fankhauser and Cylie LaTourell took care of business in the No. 2 doubles match with a 6-1 win over Kaitlyn Celmo and Chloe Patterson. Elysa Apen and Jessica Gautreau secured the sweep with a forfeit win in No. 3 doubles play.

Arroyo kept the momentum going with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Blaufuss in No. 1 singles play. In No. 2 singles, Giordanelli defeated Rosennscar, 6-2, 6-2. Fankhauser faced Celmo in the No. 3 singles match, defeating her opponent 6-2, 6-0. LaTourell took care of business in No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Patterson. Apen put the icing on the cake with her first collegiate win in No. 5 singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win over J'ciana Strong, and Gautreau sealed the sweep with a forfeit win in No. 6 singles.

The Lady Warriors will look to keep the momentum going as they travel to Salina, Kan. to take on Kansas Wesleyan University on Thursday, April 16 with matches set to start at 3 p.m.
