Women's tennis defeats Baker at home
Sterling College women's tennis got their first win in conference play against Baker University on Saturday, March 8 beating the short-handed Wildcats, 6-1.
The Lady Warriors made light work of Baker in the doubles matches with Giovana Gaboardi and Nadia Margaritov beating Dayna Steadman and Abbie Linn in the #1 doubles match 6-4.
In the #2 doubles match, Hannah Giordanelli and Greta Fankhauser won 6-0 over Clarice Langfoss and Jordan Grabast. The Wildacts forfeited the #3 doubles match to Ana Alvarez and Camila Castro Medina.
Sterling then got to work in the singles match ups. Alvarez represented the Lady Warriors in the #1 match with the Lady Warrior's only loss of the day. She beat Baker's Steadman in the first set 6-1, lost the second set 6-4 and lost the tie breaker 10-6. Margaritov answered back for Sterling in the #2 singles match beating Linn 6-1, 6-3.
For the #3 match, Gaboardi recorded a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Langfoss while Giordanelli got the win in the #4 match, 6-1, 6-1, against Grabast. Greta Fankhauser and Castro Medina both got forfeit wins in the #5 and #6 singles matches, respectively.
