Hailing from Casa Grande, Ariz., Gwen Mikkelsen came to Sterling at the start of the 2026 spring season. She graduated from Northwestern College in May of 2025 with a bachelor’s in marketing and management with a minor in sociology.

While at Northwestern, Mikkelsen played short stop and third base for the Red Raiders helping the team to three GPAC regular season championships and two GPAC tournament championships. She was a four-time all-conference selection, two time NAIA All-American, a National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association All-American, and the 2023 GPAC Player of the Year.

After graduation, Mikkelsen worked as a freelance marketing coordinator and club softball coach.

She currently lives in Sterling.
