Campos, Perales, and Hirlas Earn Softball All-Conference Honors
Wichita, Kan. – The Lady Warriors had their best season in recent history and three individuals were recognized for their performances during the year. As a team, Sterling touted the 24th best batting average in the country and the second best in the KCAC this season. A big part of this was Aiyana Campos, Desiree Perales, and Kelly Hirlas.
Aiyana Campos was selected as Unanimous First Team Third Baseman. She led the team in batting average (.445), Slugging Percentage (.641), and on base percentage (.539). She was also top three on the team in runs (40), hits (57), doubles (12), triples (2), and homeruns (3). She tied for the team lead in walks as well. Her on base percentage was good enough for second in the KCAC and she was third in batting average.
Desiree Perales earned a Unanimous Second Team bid at second base. She led the team in hits (65), doubles (13), homeruns (4), and RBIs (47). She was top five on the team in runs (40), slugging percentage (.592), and on base percentage (.456). In the KCAC, she ranks third in RBIs, fourth in batting average, and fifth in total hits.
Also earning honors is Kelly Hirlas with an All-KCAC Third Team Outfielder selection. Hirlas was tied for second on the team in hits (57), third in doubles (10), fourth in RBIs (30) and on base percentage (.446), and fifth in slugging percentage (.500). In the league she was top twenty in batting average (6th), hits, doubles, and on base percentage.
