Warrior XC Makes Trip to JBU Golden Eagle Invitational
Siloam Springs, Ark. – The Warrior XC team took their first trip to the JBU Golden Eagle XC Invitational. It was another unseasonably warm fall day to run for the Warriors. The team put in a solid effort and walked away with encouraging results. All the men ran personal bests at the 8k distance, and Janie Perico ran her second best time in the 6k.
Daryen Jefferson led the way finishing 13th for Sterling. He set a new PR by 22 seconds with a time of 28:00.1. He was within 10 seconds of a top ten finish at the meet and is withing 16 seconds of finding his way on the Sterling College all-time top 15 list.
Head Coach Mason Blevins had this to say about the way the group ran over the weekend. "I was pleased with how our team ran today. We've hit it pretty hard in training over the last month and didn't really back off this week. They put themselves in a position to compete and ran hard. We are progressing well and I am excited to see how we can compete in these coming weeks as the conference meet quickly approaches!"
Warrior XC returns to action on Saturday, October 12th, at the Carol Swenson Invite hosted by McPherson College. This will be a great test for Sterling as many of the KCAC teams will be there to see how they compete head-to-head. The men's 8k begins at 9 am and the women will follow with a 5k at around 9:45 am.
