Bio

Brett Oden, a Sterling, Kan. native, began his journey with Sterling College in the fall of 2023 as a volunteer assistant track coach, in the fall of 2024, he transitioned into the role of official throws coach for the college.

Before joining the Sterling College team, Oden pursued his undergraduate studies at Garden City Community College, where he obtained an associate's degree in agriculture business in 2019. He then transferred to McPherson College where he earned a bachelor's degree in business marketing and management, graduating in 2022.

During his time at GCCC in 2019, Oden competed at the national level and placed 14th in the nation at the junior college level in the shot put. In 2022, while at McPherson, he achieved a 19th-place finish at the NAIA Indoor Nationals and a 23rd-place finish at the NAIA Outdoor Nationals, both in the shot put.

As a coach for the Warriors he has helped three athletes qualify in the shot put for the NCCAA Indoor National meet and coached an NCCAA Indoor National Champion in the weight throw. Oden has also helped athletes compete at the NCCAA Outdoor National Championship, two athletes in the hammer throw, two in the discuss, one in the shot put and one in the javelin.

Oden currently resides in Sterling, Kan. and works on his family farm in the off season.
