Warriors go to three tie breakers against Braves
Sterling College men's tennis took on Ottawa University at home on Saturday, March 22. The day proved to be a back-and-forth battle with the Braves getting the 5-2 win.
In doubles play, Pedro Felipoff and Angel Marin took on Jarmo Wienese and Enzo Ceravolo in the no. 1 doubles match losing 6-3. In the no. 2 doubles play, Patricio Cifuentes Aguilar and David Garces faced off against Oscar Giorgio and Ben Russel and lost 6-3. Kazuki Fukushima and Kyosuke Ishida represented the Warriors in the no. 3 match where they lost to Bernardo Figueiredo and Santiago Tartaglia, 7-5.
The Warriors continued to fight in singles play. In no. 1 singles play, Felipoff won the first set 6-1 before Wienese retired the match to give Felipoff the victory. Yohann Molle and Tartaglia faced off in the no. 2 singles match where Molle lost 6-2, 6-2. Louis Boisdenghien took on Russell in the no. 3 singles play and won the first set 6-2, lost the second set 6-3 and then won the tie breaker 7-6.
In the no. 4 singles match, Ishida faced Giorgio going into a tie breaker. Ishida won the first set 6-2, lost the second set 6-0 and lost the tie breaker 6-3. Cifuentes Aguilar went up against Enzo Ceravolo in the no. 5 singles match which went to another tie breaker. Cifuentes Aguilar win the first set 6-4, lost the second set 6-4, and lost the tie breaker 7-6. Marin finished out the day in the no. 6 singles match against Figueiredo and lost 7-6, 7-5.
The Warriors will be back in action Monday, March 24 against Evangel University in Springfield, Mo.
