The Sterling College men's soccer team started the year with a 1-1 tie against Central Christian in McPherson, Kan. on Saturday, Aug. 23.
The Tigers struck first with a goal from Genis Alcaide off of an assist by Aleandro Veintimill and Boston Peterson 18:21 into the game. Sterling was able to answer back in the final minutes of the second half with a goal by Chimela "Praise" Orji off of an assist by Jonathan Torres in the with less than four minutes on the clock.
Sterling's goalie, Cassidy Kelly, had some big saves for the Warriors, with four saves on five shots on the goal. As a team, Sterling took a total of 10 shots with three shots on goal.
The Tigers, on the other hand, had 17 shots, with five shots on goal.
The Warriors will take the field against on Tuesday, Aug. 26 against the University of Science and Arts in Sterling, Kan.
