Men's Basketball Struggles Against Grace; Falls 85-66
OMAHA, NEB. – The Warriors couldn't find their groove against the Grace University Royals on Wednesday, falling to the Royals 85-66.
The first half Sterling shot nearly 36% (11-31), with three of those shots coming from beyond the three point arc. The Warriors seemed to be getting their groove late in the first half but a hot shooting Grace squad got out in front quick with a 54% shooting half to take a 36-29 lead at the half.
In the second half, the threes began to drop for the Warriors to get themselves back into the game. Sterling six treys was the ticket they needed but another hot shooting half from Grace held their ground and allowed the Royals jump out to a commanding lead. Sterling fought valiantly but the lead was too much as Sterling lost 85-66.
Sterling's leading scorer in the game was Maurice Williams (JR/Fayetteville, Ga.), Trey Dubbert (FR/Beloit, Kan.) was second on the team with 10.
Sterling (8-11, 6-4) hosts the University of Saint Mary on Saturday at 5:00pm.
