Bio

Stephen Wilson is serving in his fourth year in the role of Co-Offensive Coordinator, Recruiting Coordinator and Wide Receiver’s Coach for the Warrior Football team. Prior to his new appointment, he spent his first two seasons as the Wide Receiver’s and Running Back’s Coach and the Director of Football Operations.

In 2018, Wilson coached a number of All-KCAC selections, as the Warriors had eight offensive players receive conference honors.

Under the coaching of Wilson in the 2017 season Sterling College finished with a WR being selected the AFCA NAIA Coaches’ All-American Team, the KCAC Offensive Player of the Year and a unanimous All-KCAC First Team WR selection for the second consecutive season (Darryl Terrell – 2017, TJ Brown – 2016). To help add to the conference championship offense Wilson also coached sophomore RB, Aaron Chisolm, to a unanimous All-KCAC First Team selection at RB.

In the 2016 season, Wilson helped coach TJ Brown to the AFCA NAIA Coaches’ All-American First Team, the KCAC Offensive Player of the Year award, and a unanimous All-KCAC First Team selection. In addition, he also coached Nathan Frame (WR) and Dentton Hudspeth (Utility) to the All-KCAC First Team and Chad Bennett (WR) as an All-KCAC Honorable Mention. Brown finished the season leading the nation in the following categories: receptions (95), receiving yards (1,585), receiving yards per game (144.1), all-purpose yards (2,535) and all-purpose yards per game (230.5). The warrior’s receiving core contributed to breaking and setting several KCAC records on the season including total scoring (535), total touchdowns (74), total offense yards per game (516) and scoring offense (48.6/gm).

Before coaching at Sterling, Wilson was the wide receiver coach and special teams coordinator at Olivet Nazarene University. During his time there, he also was the recruiting coordinator for two years and helped coached the outside linebackers as well as the running backs. He started at ONU as a graduate assistant for the Tigers in 2012. Wilson has been a member of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) since 2012.

As a player, Wilson was a running back at Sterling College from ‘05 to ‘09. During the 2007 season, the team was ranked first in offense in the KCAC, finishing with a 7-2 conference record. Wilson was a KCAC All-Conference Academic Award recipient in 2006 and 2007 and was Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete in 2008. He also was awarded the Gleason Endowed Memorial Scholarship in 2008 and received the Kelsey Scholar Award in 2008 and 2009.

While at Sterling, Wilson was an RA for two years and was involved in FCA. He also took international missions trips to Kenya, South Africa, and China. Wilson graduated from Sterling College with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and earned his master’s degree in business administration from Olivet Nazarene University.
