Chase Hansen Named Head Football Coach At Sterling

STERLING, KAN. – The Sterling College Athletic Department is proud to announce that Chase Hansen will be the new head coach for the Sterling College Football program.

"When we started this process, we realized that we were coming off three of the best years in Sterling College Football history, due to the student-athletes and the coaching staff here during that time," said Athletic Director Gary Kempf. "This type of success was not due to one or two people, therefore, it made sense to look within our staff to find our next coach. We are excited that Chase is willing to take on this challenge and we look forward to his leadership and the energy that he brings to the football program." said Kempf.

Hansen has served on the Sterling College coaching staff for six seasons, most recently as the offensive coordinator. Prior to coming to Sterling, Hansen served as the offensive coordinator for Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. for two seasons.

During his time at Sterling, Hansen has coached numerous All-KCAC players, including five KCAC Players of the Year, and four AFCA-NAIA All-Americans. Hansen also led the 2016 Warrior Football offense to a record-breaking season, setting a number of school and KCAC records, as Sterling ranked nationally in many offensive categories.

Sterling also reached the NAIA-Football Championship Series three times (2013, 2016, 2017) and won the KCAC Football Championship twice (2013 and 2017) during Hansen's time on the coaching staff. Hansen was also awarded the KCAC Assistant Coach of the Year, both in 2013 and 2016.

Hansen is from Mulvane, Kansas, and played his collegiate football at Bethel College. Hansen was a four-time All-KCAC player and two time First Team All-KCAC player as an offensive lineman for the Threshers. Hansen was also selected as a Champions of Character Leader in both 2006 and 2007, while also being named a two-time AFCA-NAIA All-American during his time at Bethel.

"I am excited to start this new chapter here at Sterling College," said Hansen. "I am incredibly blessed to have been able to learn from the coaches before and I want to keep the momentum moving forward. I am looking forward to what the future has in store for this team and this program."

Hansen is a graduate of Bethel College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. Post-graduation, Hansen attended Wichita State University where he completed a Master of Science in Exercise Science.
