Ottawa, Kan.- Sterling College traveled to Ottawa University for a triple header only to come home winless against the Braves. The Warriors found little opportunity to score through the weekend, making this their sixth loss in the KCAC season.
Game One- Sterling -1Ottawa -8
The Warriors snuck in a single run before the first game ended, in the final inning. Aaron Johnson hit a solo home run, locking in the Warrior's only run of the game.
Ottawa got off to a hot start scoring 3 in the first, adding one more in the fourth, 3 more in the fifth, and one more security run in the eighth. This made the final score 8-1 in the first game of the three game series.
Camrin Wleczyk and Gentry Bradbury shared the pitcher's mound against the Braves. Wleczyk pitched five innings, giving up seven runs on nine hits, and added three strikeouts. Bradbury pitched three innings, giving one run on three hits, and striking out three Brave batters.
Game Two- Sterling -1Ottawa -4
The Warriors kept the Braves to a lower score in the next battle. The first inning remained scoreless as both teams played well defensively. The Warriors got their lone run in the fifth inning. Starting with a single to left field, Rumaldo watched two strikeouts before Joe Rae singled as well, advancing him from first to third, Rumaldo scored on the play taking advantage of an errant throw. The Warriors couldn't find another run for the rest of the game but kept the Braves in check. Sterling took a 4-1 loss in the middle game of the double header.
Pitching for the Warriors were Dustin Chartrand, Reid Heidtbrink, and Tyler Duffey. Chartrand got the start and up gave three runs on six hits and struck out one batter. Duffey recorded a walk and a strikeout in his four outs recorded. Reid Heidtbrink gave one run on one hit, and had one strikeout.
Game Three- Sterling -0Ottawa -12
The Warriors fought for a run in the final game but got shutout against the Braves. They did find a couple of hits throughout the game. Johnson made it to first off of an error in the first inning. Thacker and Morales singled in the third inning. Damon Redeker singled in the fifth inning as well.
The pitcher's mound was shared by four Warriors this game. Andrew Mason got the start for Sterling and went an inning and a third. He gave up six runs on just four hits and four walks. Bradbury was credited with three runs on two hits in two thirds of an inning pitched. Alejandro Barron pitched two innings, giving up two runs, two hits, and striking out one. Eric Beyale gave up one run on one hit, and struck out two Brave batters.
