Bio

A Sterling native, Taya Smith, graduated from Sterling College in 2023 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science Education and Sport Management with an emphasis in coaching. While at Sterling, she was named 2023 Outstanding Senior Athlete for her performance in basketball and track, and she also received the Fran Jabara Leadership Award for being the 2023 Outstanding Female Graduate.

Smith returned to Sterling as the Sports Information Director in the spring of 2025 after teaching physical education at Wiley Elementary and working as a Machine Room manager for Sterling Services.

She lives in Sterling with her husband, Trajen, the assistant track coach at Sterling College.
