Bio

Marty Barnett started at Sterling College in the spring of 2023. Originally from Lacrosse, Kan., Barnett graduated from in 1999 from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. While getting his degree at K-State he helped coach high school football at Pratt-Skyline High School and later at Stockton High School. He received his masters in health and human performance from Fort Hays State University in 2015. Barnett is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is also a certified USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach.

After completing his undergrad, Barnett worked as an intern strength and conditioning coach at the University of Southern Florida in 2006 and was a strength and conditioning graduate assistant at the University of Tulsa in 2006-2007. From 2009-2015, he was the head strength and conditioning coach at Victory Christian School in Tulsa, Okla. In 2015-2016, he served as the head strength and condition coach at Moore High School in Moore, Okla., and from 2016-2023 was the head strength and conditioning coach at Rejoice Christian School in Owasso, Okla. where he was named the Oklahoma Strength Coach of the Year in 2019 by the National High School Strength Coaches Association.

Barnett currently resides in McPherson, Kan. with his wife and three kids.
