Sterling College Athletics celebrates 30th Annual Warrior Wood & Wedge

NEWTON, Kan. – The 30th Annual Warrior Wood and Wedge Golf Tournament was hosted by Sterling College Athletics on Saturday, June 13 at Sand Creek Station.

"We had another tremendous turnout from our alumni, sponsors and friends of Sterling College. I am so thankful for the continued support of this tournament that was started 30 years ago by the late coach Curt Bennett. What he started has turned into an impactful event that directly affects our student athletes and coaches," Justin Morris, Vice President of Athletics, said.

Thirty-six teams participated in this year's event with proceeds from the tournament contributing to athletic equipment, upgrading athletic facilities and support of athletic programs to improve the student-athlete experience at Sterling College.

Sand Creek Station's course boasts a yardage of 6,103 and a par of 72 through 18 holes. Teams competed in a four-man scramble format and were able to purchase mulligans,  closer tee-boxes and hole-in-one rewards to help improve the team score.
