[Baseball] Warriors Season Comes to End

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The 2012 season for the No. 25 Sterling College Warriors came to a close on Monday with a 3-0 loss to No. 3 Oklahoma City University in the final game of the NAIA Opening Round in Oklahoma City. Sterling was shut out by a Stars team that has been one of the top ranked teams in the country all year long.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – For the second straight game, the No. 25 Sterling College Warriors won in come from behind fashion by beating No. 3 Oklahoma City University 2-1 to advance to the NAIA Opening Round Championship of the Oklahoma City Regional. The Warriors scored two runs in the top of the ninth and then shut down the Stars in the bottom of the ninth to earn the victory and advance to the Championship Game on Sunday at 2:30 pm at Jim Wade Stadium in Oklahoma City.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – In their first game ever at the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, the No. 25 Sterling College Warriors came from behind in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn a 9-8 win over No. 19 Lubbock Christian to earn a trip to the winner's bracket final against No. 3 Oklahoma City.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA released the brackets for its nine regional locations in the Opening Round of the National Baseball Tournament Sunday evening. STERLING, Kan. - Sterling College played host to the 2012 KCAC Track & Field Championships this past week and the Running Warriors didn't disappoint the home crowd. With one event champion, two KCAC runner ups, three third place finishes, two school records and 10 honorable mention KCAC performances; Sterling track finished the season on a high note on their home turf.

HUTCHINSON, Kan.– The top seeded Sterling College Warriors completed a sweep of the KCAC Championship Tournament by defeating No. 2 Tabor College for the second time in two days 9-5. Sterling becomes the 2012 KCAC Champion and will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round. Tabor also receives on automatic bid as the Bluejays will host one of nine five team double elimination tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. at Hobart-Detter Field. The two teams will find out their draws on Sunday.

HUTCHINSON, Kan.– At Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson, Kan., Sterling College (42-12) came back from a six run deficit to advance past Tabor College (40-12) into tomorrow's KCAC Baseball Championship Tournament Final. The Warriors scored eight unanswered runs in the final five innings to send the Bluejays to play in the loser's bracket final against Kansas Wesleyan University at 7:00 pm this evening.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – McPherson College would send the Lady Warriors of Sterling College home on a walk off hit to beat Sterling 3-2 in the KCAC Softball Championship Tournament.

HUTCHINSON, Kan.– In game three of the KCAC Baseball Championship Tournament, the No. 1 seeded Sterling College Warriors took care of the No. 4 seeded University of Saint Mary 8-3 behind a strong showing by Tyler Deutscher on the mound. The Warriors put together 11 hits compared to Saint Mary's five hits to advance to play No. 2 seeded Tabor College tomorrow at 3:00 pm in the first semi-final of the tournament. Saint Mary will play the winner of Ottawa/Kansas Wesleyan at 11:00 am tomorrow.

[Softball] Lady Warriors Drop KCAC Game to Bethany

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Lady Warriors found themselves ahead of Bethany 2-1 before the Lady Swedes produced a five run bottom of the fifth to give Sterling its first loss in the KCAC Tournament by a score of 6-2.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -Joe Williams of Sterling (Kan.) has been tabbed National Baseball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Williams was selected based on his performances from April 23 - 29 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings. Williams is the second representative from the Warriors this season, as teammate Daniel Hall received the weekly honor on March 20.

STERLING, Kan. – For the first time in school history, the Sterling College Warrior baseball program has reached 40 wins in a single year. Sterling's 40th win came on Senior Day in game two of a double header between Sterling and Tabor. Win number 40 clinched a share of the KCAC Regular Season Championship for Sterling and the top seed in the KCAC Championship Tournament. Sterling currently has a record of 40-12.
