WICHITA, Kan. – Ottawa's Erik Brown (Junior, Converse, Texas) is named Defensive Player of the Week. Kansas Wesleyan's Taylor Sachs (Junior, Georgetown, Texas) is named Offensive Player of the Week Sterling's Antonio Bray (Freshman, Van Nuys, Calif.) takes Special Teams Player of the Week.
Brown, a 5-10, 189 lb. Defensive Back, had a blocked field goal, three interceptions, six tackles, one pass breakup, and one sack in Ottawa's 20-6 win over No. 2 Missouri Valley. He led a Braves defense that forced four turnovers and held Missouri Valley to 1-of-7 in fourth down conversions. Brown's three interceptions tie him for second all-time in the Ottawa record book for single game interceptions.
Sachs, a 5-9, 185 lb. Running Back, ran for 191 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Coyotes to a home 38-28 win over No. 22 Evangel (Mo.) Sachs had 36 rush attempts with an average of 5.3 yards per attempt, with a long of 50 yards. He also added four catches for 44 yards, including a 25 yard reception. His performance helped KWU break a five game non-conference losing streak.
Bray, a 5-8, 180 lb. Running Back, recorded 257 all-purpose yards with three touchdowns, including a 100-yard kickoff return, in the Warrior's home 42-30 home win over Culver-Stockton (Mo.). His three touchdowns came off a 51-yard rush, a 100-yard kickoff return, and a 34-yard rush. He also returned two punts for five yards in the game.
All KCAC Players of the Week will also be nominated for NAIA National Player of the Week honors.
