STERLING, Kan. – After trailing the University of Saint Mary Spires by 11 points with just 5:53 left in the game, the Sterling College Warriors would make a miraculous comeback and beat the Spires 71-62 in overtime.

The Warrior comeback would start with a Cody Brazelton (6-6 SR Forward) free-throw to cut the lead to 10 points. Brazelton would miss his second free-throw, but SC would gain the offensive rebound.

After a missed Eddie Adesodun (5-10 SO Guard) field goal attempt, Brazelton would grab the offensive rebound and put back, cutting the lead to eight.

Darius Alexander (5-11 SO Guard) would foul USM's Brandon Dougherty, putting him to the line for two. Dougherty would miss his first attempt, but make his second, pushing the lead to nine with 4:25 left.

On Sterling's end, Brazelton would score again, cutting the lead to seven with 3:35 remaining.

Sterling would get a stop and then quickly attack. Adesodun would drive and kick to Trenton Stutzman (6-0 SR Guard) who drained a three-point basket to cut the lead to four with 2:39 remaining.

Another stop by Sterling and a USM foul would put Stutzman on the line who would make two free-throws, cutting the lead to two with 2:04 remaining.

Again, Sterling would make a stop and Saint Mary would foul. Alexander would make two free-throws to tie the game with 1:24 left.

An Adesodun foul on USM's next possession would put Kevin Harvey on the line. Harvey would make both free-throws, pushing the lead back to two points with 1:03 remaining.

Sterling would catch a break when Jeb Greenberg would four Alexander on a three-point attempt, putting Darius to the line for three. Alexander would make the first two, but miss the third, giving USM a chance for a game winner.

SC would make a stop with 0.09 left, giving SC one last chance for regulation victory, but Sterling would be unable to convert.

In overtime, quick baskets by Adam Brown (6-4 JR Forward) and Brazelton would give SC a four point advantage.

Alexander would then make two free-throws, pushing the lead to six.

Sterling would put the clamps on defensively, giving up only three points in the overtime to win 71-62.

Brown and Brazelton each recorded a double-double for the Warriors. Brown led all scorers with 19 points and had 12 rebounds. Brazelton had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Also in double figure scoring for Sterling was Stutzman with 14 and Alexander with 12.

Harvey was the leading scorer for USM with 17 points. Marc McGory added 13 points.

With the win, Sterling improves to 11-11, 6-4 in the KCAC. The Warriors will travel to Winfield on Thursday to take on No. 14 Southwestern College at 8:00 pm.
