STERLING, Kan.- Remington took most of the first quarter trying to find a way to slow the hot shooting Lions in their 56-42 win over the Bluestem.

The Broncos led 18-15 at the end of the quarter and came up big defensively as they held Bluestem scoreless for the first six minutes of the second quarter.  The Broncos took control of the game with a 9-0 run in that span and never looked back.

Remington held a 12 point lead at halftime which proved to be insurmountable as the Lions never closed the gap to single digits.  The Broncos pushed the lead to as much 25 midway through the fourth quarter before Bluestem scored the final 11 points of the game.

Remington was led by junior Caleb Tanner who scored 27 points and had 15 rebounds.  Other notable contributors for the Broncos were junior Paul Janzen who scored 12 points, senior Tim Wedel who scored nine points, and senior Caleb Cherryholmes who scored eight points.  As a team Remington shot 24/56 for a percentage of 0.429.  Remington held a huge advantage over the Lions in rebounds as they out rebounded Bluestem 39-22.

Bluestem was led by seniors Cade Minnick and Cody Lewis each with 11 points and senior Blake Bolander with 8 points.  Bluestem shot 0.405 from the field on 17/42 shooting.  The Lions were led in rebounds by Lewis with six and Bolander with five.

Remington moves to 7-2 with the win and will play Wichita Independent in the 7:30 game on Thursday night.

With the loss, Bluestem drops to 1-9 and will play Maize South in the 4:30 game on Thursday.
