STERLING, Kan. – The Sterling College Warriors and the McPherson College Bulldogs took the field on Saturday afternoon to finish their KCAC series. The Warriors and Bulldogs battled it out, with McPherson taking the lead midway through the game. Sterling started their rally for the comeback late, but would fall just short, as the Bulldogs defeated the Warriors, 7-6.

Game 3:

Sterling would strike first, taking a 2-0 lead after the third inning. Base hits from Jake Schimenz, Corey Davis and Miguel Reyes kept the Warriors moving as Sterling took the early lead. McPherson continued to battle, scoring seven straight runs to jump ahead 7-2, heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Warriors added two runs of their own in the seventh, scoring off hits by Corey Davis and Miguel Reyes to make it 7-4. Needing to continue their momentum into the final stretch of the game, Sterling's defense kept the Bulldogs off track at the plate, using strong plays in the field and tough pitching on the mound from Miceal Taylor.

After a quick eighth inning, Sterling collected three quick outs against the Bulldogs, to take their final chance at the plate. Down 7-4, Nicholas Domitrovich started with a double to right, followed by back-to-back walks for Miguel Reyes and Javoni Thomas, as the Warriors loaded the bases with no outs. A single to right by Eddie Juarez scored two runs for Sterling, as the Warriors found themselves down a single run late in the game. However, McPherson had the answer to keep the Warriors from adding any more runs, as the Bulldogs would strike out the next two batters, while ending the game on a ground out to defeat Sterling, 7-6.

Jake Schimenz, Eddie Juarez, Miguel Reyes, and Corey Davis each had two hits for Sterling, while Reyes and Juarez each had two RBIs in the game.

Sterling (29-12, 12-6) will head to Ottawa, Kansas to take on the Ottawa University Braves on Friday, April 21st and Saturday, April 22nd. The Warriors will play a single game on Friday, set to begin at 3 p.m., and a doubleheader on Saturday, set to start at 1 p.m.
