STERLING, KAN. - The Sterling College Warrior Cross Country Team will not have to travel far this weekend, as they compete at their home meet at the Sterling Country Club this Saturday, September 10th. The men will kick things off with their 8k race at 9:00am, followed by the women's 5k at 9:45am. This will be the Warriors second meet of the season, competing last week at the Terry Masterson Twilight Meet in Hutchinson last Friday night.
Isaac Barnhart and Lucas Garrett look to make a major impact at home as they compete for the last time as seniors. Both Garrett and Barnhart are ranked in the Sterling College All Time Top 15 with marks of 27:53 (12th) and 27:55 (13th) respectively and have a great shot at moving up with their race Saturday. Junior Aaron Pinkerton has put himself into position to compete well this weekend, and has a very good shot at being competitive and vying for a top 15 finish at home.
On the Women's side, Madison Caffrey, Renee Lanham, and Jennifer Calderwood will compete in their last home meet as seniors and hope to bring home their 3rd Warrior Fest Team Title in three years. Caffrey and Lanham have marks in the Sterling College All Time Top 15 with times of 19:39 (5th) and 20:22 (11th). Caffrey will be shooting for her 3rd straight individual title as well and will have some teammates there to push her as well. Sophomore Lacey Buckwalter and Freshman Payden Shapland hope to push the pace with Caffrey, and are coming off of solid races from a week ago. Junior Lora Bebermeyer is looking as strong as ever and is providing some very solid depth to the women's team so far and could work herself into the ranks of the All Time record board.
