WICHITA, Kan. – Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference cross country coaches have selected the University of Saint Mary as the top men's and Friends University as the top women's cross country program in the KCAC for 2016, the conference office announced Monday. Sterling Women's Cross Country was picked to finish 4th and the Men were picked 8th.

Friends also finished first in the 2015 KCAC Championship with a team total of 48 points, and competed as a team in the NAIA Cross Country Championship where they finished 33rd. The Falcons top returner, Brooke Burley, finished fifth in the 2015 KCAC Championship, while Christa Follette placed eighth.

Southwestern was selected to second on the women's side, returning Justine Vogele who finished seventh at the conference championship. The 2015 KCAC Champion, Jordan Calderwood, returns to the Ottawa University squad. By winning the KCAC meet, Calderwood qualified for the NAIA Meet where she finished 167th of 321 runners.

 Men's Poll

The Spires, who ranked No. 2 in the 2015 NAIA Postseason Poll, finished first in the 2015 KCAC Championship and second in the NAIA Cross Country Championship. Tony Weber, Saint Mary's top male returner for 2016, finished second in the 2015 KCAC Championship.

Kansas Wesleyan was selected to finish second in the conference, while Southwestern was selected to finish third. The Coyotes return Trail Spears, who finished 11th at the KCAC Championship with a time of 27:00.70.
